Michelle Jansen, 48, formerly of Lockport, NY, and of Peoria, AZ, passed away on Monday, July 31, 2023, following a tragic motorcycle accident in Arizona. Born in Baltimore, MD, she was the daughter of Marie Stidham and the stepdaughter of Wayne Heil. On June 9, 2007, she married her cherished husband, Gerald ‘Jerry’ Jansen, Jr. Jerry sadly predeceased her November 20, 2020. 

Michelle moved to Western New York as a child, where she graduated from Royalton-Hartland High School in Middleport, NY. She received her Associate’s degree in Nursing from Daemen College and served as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Terrace View Nursing Residence in Buffalo, NY for several years. Prior to becoming a nurse, Michelle drove school bus for the Lockport School District, a job she loved. 

As a gifted nurse, Michelle was known as the caretaker of the family. Without hesitation she happily took care of her mother-in-law, aunt, and Jerry throughout his battle with cancer.

Following the loss of Jerry, Michelle relocated to Arizona with her sons, Michael and Gerald ‘JJ,’ as well as Michael’s fiancé, Faith. She was currently employed at the Life Care Center of North Glendale and was enrolled at Arizona College of Nursing working to obtain her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.

Michelle enjoyed hiking, being out in the nature and cooking. She was a proud nurse and an avid fan of the Buffalo Bills. Above all, Michelle centered her life around her family, and cherished the time she spent with her boys and their houseful of pets.

Michelle will be deeply missed by her children, Michael (fiancé Faith) Stubbs, Gerald ‘JJ’ Jansen, III; her mother, Marie Stidham and step-father, Wayne Heil; her siblings, Ronald Sponaugle, Norman Taylor, Irene Murphy, Sue Ann Taylor and Patricia Taylor; her special nephew, Josh Taylor; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Nadine (Donald) Allen, Michelle Rott, Kim (John) Jones and Suzanne (David) McAllister, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. In addition to her husband, Michelle was predeceased by her sister, Tina Sponaugle. 

Visitation will be Saturday, August 26 from 1 – 4 PM at M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY 14304, where funeral services will begin at 4:00 PM. Interment will be held privately in Glenwood Cemetery, Lockport, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be sent directly to the family at gofundme.com/f/michelle-jansen
