Heaven’s gates have opened for our beautiful loving mother, Gilda Marie, who passed away on June 22, 2023, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 93. Born on May 15, 1930, in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Maria (Ferrone) D’Amore; and the beloved wife of 49 years to Anthony Villa.
Gilda was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls where she attended local schools. She had a strong work ethic and instilled it in her family. She was employed by Niacet, Como Restaurant, N.F. Board of Education, HANCI and Sam’s Club throughout her career.
Gilda was a very giving person to all who knew her. She enjoyed traveling to visit her loving son and daughter in Florida, as well as tending to her garden and shopping. Above all, Gilda centered her life around her family who will miss her tremendously.
Gilda is survived by her children, Anthony (Joan) Villa, Barbara (David) Taibi and Jill (Chuck) Armeli; grandchildren, Charles Armeli Jr., Tiffany (Smiley) Soto, David Taibi Jr. and Michael Taibi; great-grandchildren, Angelina and Natalia Soto, as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her brothers, Anthony D’Amore, Albert D’Amore, Jenny D’Amore, and her precious granddaughter, Vienna Armeli.
Private funeral services with entombment in St. Joseph Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family. A Memorial Service celebrating Gilda’s life will be held in Holy Family Parish at St. Joseph Church at a later date to be announced. Memorial offerings may be made to Niagara Hospice.
