James H. Fadel, 97, of Lewiston, NY, passed away on June 23, 2023. Born in Niagara Falls, he was the son of late Hykel and Mary (Yesbek) Fadel.
James was a lifelong resident of LaSalle. James married Rosemarie (Jacob) Fadel on April 11, 1953 at Our Lady of Lebanon Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Mrs. Fadel predeceased him on December 31, 2015. James was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1944 until his honorable discharge 1945.
James received his BA and MA degrees from Niagara University and was a 30-year Business Education teacher at Niagara Wheatfield High School, retiring in 1989. He was a director and officer of the Niagara Wheatfield Credit Union for 25 years, and was also a retired U.S. Customs Officer, having served at all four Western New York bridges during the late 60s and 70s. He was active with Knights of Columbus, and was a proud Scoutmaster. In his spare time, he loved to travel as much as possible.
James is survived by his loving companion, Judith Hunt, as well as her daughters Brenda Cowe and Julie (late Mickey) Boucher and family; as well as numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins from the Fadel and Jacob families. In addition to his parents and wife, James was predeceased by a son, James Fadel; and siblings Lucy (late Tom) David, Fred (late June) Fadel, George (late Elizabeth) Fadel, Alice (late Peter) Roffle, Rosetta (late Joseph) Boyle, Leo (late Najebe) Fadel, Anna Fadel, Marie (late Carl) Bubb, and Mae (late Sam) Ashker.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 27 from 10 – 11 AM at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY 14301, where James’ Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 AM. Interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Stella Niagara Educational Park. Arrangements by M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL.
