Gordon B. Claffey, Jr., 76 of Champions Gate, FL, formerly of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on May 4, 2023 in Florida. Born in Buffalo, NY., he was the son of the late Gordon B. and Georgia (Craver) Claffey Sr.
Gordon graduated from Bishop Duffy High School and attended Texas Christian University where he played defensive back at both Duffy and TCU. He was employed at Carborundum later known as St. Gobain in production for 40 years. Gordon loved to travel, read and was an avid golfer.
Gordon is survived by his wife JoAnne (Vitale) Claffey, his children, Gary (Sharon) Claffey, Glynis Fitzgerald, Greer (Greg Lambert) Claffey; his grandchildren, Garrett (Emily) Claffey, Gregory (Marissa) Claffey, Hannah Claffey and Conor Fitzgerald; brother-in-law of, Frances (Scott Howard) Vitale and Thomas (Lisa) Vitale as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, numerous friends and his beloved dog, Callaway.
Gordon’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 22 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s of the Cataract Church, 259 4th Street, Niagara Falls, NY 14303. Entombment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. Visit mjcoluccifuneralchapel.com for online condolences.SERVICES
