Daryl J. McGriggs, 45, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on April 30, 2023, surrounded by his wife, Rosanna, sister, Marqueritta, and father-in-law, David, at Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, after a lifetime battle with Sarcoidosis.

Born in Lewiston, NY, he was the son of Patricia (late James) King and the late James (Karen) Porter. Daryl was raised in Niagara Falls by his beloved Granny Ivory Cameron (late Lee) McGriggs, who predeceased him.

Daryl was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School where he was a member of the wrestling team. He served as the manager of KFC in Niagara Falls, NY and Lockport, NY for several years until his illness prevented him to work.

Daryl enjoyed coaching little league baseball in the area, and was a passionate fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Yankees. He also loved decorating during the holiday seasons and tending to his Chevy Impala, ‘Meatball.’ In his younger years, he was an avid hunter. Above all, Daryl surrounded his life around his family who will miss him dearly.

Daryl is survived by his wife, Rosanna McGriggs; his children, Mercedes McGriggs and Dominic Lively; his cherished fur-daughter, Rozlyn; his siblings, Marqueritta (LaMont) Mayfield, Damascus Porter and Doneisha Porter; his nieces and nephews, Bobby Cox Jr., Isaiah King, Hayden Mulholland-DeGolier, Lavander Grant, Destiny Robinson, Jalan Porter, A’Kira Henderson and N’Kiya Henderson; his beloved mother-in-law and father-in-law, Cheryl and David DeGolier; his sister-in-law Heather DeGolier, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, and Andrea (Steve) Simler; his special uncles, Nicholas (Marianne) Sigismondi and Michael Sigismondi, who he especially enjoyed spending time with out at breakfast and car shows, as well as helping them wax and care for their cars. He is also survived by his dear friends, Richard (Yolandé) Grant, Marquise (Lisa) Miller and Michael Gardner; his special cousin, Lawrence ‘Roc’ McGrigg, who he made memorable moments with at the Casino, picnics, and around the shop. Daryl will also be deeply missed by many other aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends, especially his DPW family who all loved him dearly. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Twan McGriggs and Tristan Carl Draper, as well as his grandmother-in-law Rose Sigismondi, with whom he shared a special bond – she always wanted Daryl to hold her hand.
