The Buffalo Buffalo moved up two spots to the number 25 slot in the 2023 NFL Draft on Thursday night to select Utah tight end Dalton Kincaid.

The Bills traded their number 27 pick and 130th pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars to jump over the Dallas Cowboys to make the selection.

Kincaid is a pass-catching tight end with a proven track record. He had 175 receptions for 2,623 yards and 35 touchdowns in five seasons at San Diego and Utah. He earned first-team All-Pac-12 honors and third-team All-American status in 2022.

At 6-foot-4 and 246 pounds, he runs routes like a wide receiver. He has great hands and can beat man coverage. He is a mismatch for linebackers and can be a red-zone threat.

Kincaid’s skills fit well with the Bills’ offense. They need a tight end who can catch passes and make plays in the red zone. Kincaid could be a major contributor for Buffalo in 2023.

Here are some additional details about Kincaid’s strengths and weaknesses:

Strengths:

  • Great hands
  • Can beat man coverage
  • Runs routes like a wide receiver
  • Is a mismatch for linebackers
  • Can be a red-zone threat

Weaknesses:

  • Not a great blocker
  • Can be inconsistent at times

Kincaid, the only TE selected in the first round on Thursday, joins Dawson Knox in the Bills’ tight ends room and gives Buffalo a new option to move the ball forward — along with Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis.

Overall, Kincaid is a talented tight end with a lot of potential. He could be a major contributor for the Bills in 2023.
