Kathleen M. Gioannini, 83, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2023 at Schoellkopf Health Center under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of late Sam and Ida (Nichitta) Augustino.
Kathleen graduated from Niagara Falls High School and spent the rest of her years devoted to raising and loving her family. She married her husband, Stephen P. Gioannini, on January 5, 1963 in Niagara Falls, NY, and the couple was blessed with two children. Mr. Gioannini predeceased her on December 22, 2006. One of the ways she showed her love for her family and friends was cooking for them – Kathleen was an amazing cook and baker and jumped on any opportunity to make a nice home cooked meal or sweet treat for someone she cared about. She loved the New York Yankees and playing Scrabble with her Sissy.
Kathleen is survived by her children Maria Gioannini and Anna Marie (Daniel Vollmer) Gioannini; Grandchildren Stephen Tokarski, Angelo Gioannini, Nino Munsen, Nunzio Munsen, and Katlyn Vollmer; sister Mary (Matt) Bernat; her companion, Fred Marsico, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins and her beloved canine companion, Luigi. In addition to her husband of 43 years, she was predeceased by her brothers Michael (late Gloria) Augustino and Charles (Linda) Augustino, and grandson Nicholas Munsen.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 24 from 9:30 – 11:15 AM at MJ COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY where prayers will be held at 11:15 AM followed by Kathleen’s Mass of Christian Burial at 12 Noon at Holy Family Parish at Mt. Carmel Church, 27th & Independence Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY. Interment to follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
