On March 15, 2023, SP Machias Troopers arrested Danny M. Bemish, 57, of Yorkshire, NY for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, six counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia 2nd Degree, and four counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Non-Original Container.
During a traffic stop on State Route 240 in the town of Ashford, Troopers observed Bemish exhibiting obvious signs of impairment and determined he had been operating a motor vehicle while in an impaired condition. He was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine and several prescription controlled substances. He was then arrested and transported to SP Machias, where Bemish failed standardized field sobriety tests and a Drug Recognition Expert evaluation confirmed impairment.
Bemish was released with appearance tickets for Ashford Town Court, where he is due to appear in April.
