LOCKPORT — Niagara County Sheriff Michael Filicetti announced the arrest today of 30-year-old, Dempsey Freeman, an incarcerated individual at the Niagara County Correctional Facility.
On February 24th, 2023, Freeman reported that he was inappropriately touched in a sexual manner by a Corrections Officer. After a thorough investigation by the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Bureau and a review of body worn camera footage, it was determined that Freeman’s allegations were false.
Freeman was charged with one count of Falsely Reporting an Incident 3rd (A-Misdemeanor) and was issued an appearance ticket for Town of Lockport Court.
Sheriff Filicetti said, “We investigate all allegations of misconduct thoroughly, and if those accusations are proven false that individual will be held accountable. Our correction officers face enough challenges in their job without being falsely accused of inappropriate acts.”
