Saint Patrick’s Day serves as the unofficial turning point from the Western New York winter doldrums to spring and “festival season.” So it’s no shock that Western New Yorkers want to get an early jump on the Irish holiday.

Sunday at Tonawanda’s Gateway Harbor Park, hundreds did just that.

Kicked off with a “micro parade” down Main Street (From Broad Street to the park), Green Beer Sunday featured music, dancing and — of course — green beer.

Music was provided by a bagpipe brigade and Restless Souls while attendees partook in a variety of Irish beers and tasty tidbits.
