Amelia T. Nicolia, 91, of Grand Island, NY, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2023. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late John and Victoria (Matar) Sarkees.
Amelia attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School. On July 26, 1958, she married her loving husband, Blase A. Nicolia. Mr. Nicolia passed away on December 28, 2022, after 64 cherished years together.
Amelia had a dignified, vibrant personality and was the strength of her beloved family. She enjoyed completing crossword puzzles and was an avid fan of the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres.
Amelia is survived by two children, Blase A. (Amy) Nicolia, Jr. and Michael (Vanessa) Nicolia and was predeceased by her son, John (Judith) Nicolia. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Dr. Andrea (Matt) Bove, Gregory Nicolia and Anna Nicolia and was happily awaiting a great grandchild due in March. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Amelia was also predeceased by her sister, Martha (late Raymond) Geiser.
There will be no prior visitation. Amelia’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, March 2 at 2:00 P.M. in St. Stephen’s Church, 2100 Baseline Road, Grand Island, NY.
