Helen Zaninovich, 98, of Niagara Falls, New York, passed away on February 18, 2023, at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. Born in Nagyhalasz, Hungary, she was the daughter of the late Steve and Pearl (Kish) Tolmacs.

Helen moved to Montreal, Quebec with her family as a child, and later moved to St. Catharines, Ontario. On July 20, 1946, she married her beloved husband, Dominick Zaninovich and together settled in Niagara Falls, New York.

Helen began working at Niagara University in the Clet Hall. She retired from the dietary department of Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center after 20 years of dedicated service.

Helen was a passionate singer and dancer. She was very active with Operation Petticoat and the Little Theater, where she performed in many musicals. Above all, she centered her life around her family who will miss her dearly.

Mrs. Zaninovich was predeceased by her husband, Dominick, in 1964. She is survived by her children, Velma (Travis) Zaninovich and Louie (Elizabeth) Zaninovich; two grandchildren, Michele (Kris) Proietti and Lauren Zaninovich; her great-grandchildren, Brooklyn and Arya Proietti; her sisters, Irene (late Bill) Tegda, Pearl (John) Hiott, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two siblings, Steve (Mary) Tolmacs and Betty (late Valentine) Genova.

There will be no prior visitation. Helen’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 25 at 11 AM in Holy Family Parish at Mt. Carmel Church, 27th Street and Independence Avenue Niagara Falls, NY. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. Arrangements by M.J. Colucci & Son Niagara Funeral Chapel.
