Joseph Anthony Toarmino, 71, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away February 15th, 2023 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY on June 20th, 1951 to the late Peter Toarmino and the late RoseAnn Falbo Toarmino Rizzo. He was predeceased by a very special and loving stepfather, Angelo Rizzo.

Joe graduated from the former LaSalle Senior High School. Upon graduation, Joe served in the US Army Military Police from 1971 until his honorable discharge in 1973.  Upon discharge, he was employed by Occidental Petroleum Company. In 1991, he moved to Las Vegas where he worked for McKinley Properties. After retirement and until his death, he worked for AutoZone in Niagara Falls.

On May 28th, 1994 he married the love of his life, Colleen Ross Toarmino. Joe and Colleen returned to Niagara Falls in 2003.  Joe loved family gatherings. He was well known for the comical way he interjected family history as he distributed gifts to the kids at the pre-Christmas Party held at Colleen and his home every year.

Since 2012, every August, Joe and his brothers spent a week in Saratoga along with a nephew. Joe as well as all the brothers always came home with many amusing stories to tell. Many have become family legends.  Joe also enjoyed hosting a friendly poker game with cousins and friends on Friday nights. It just won’t be the same without him.

Besides his loving wife, Colleen, Joe leaves behind three loving daughters, Alicia (Dan) Savino, Elizabeth (Douglas) Barber and Andrea Toarmino (Tony Terrana) along with five grandchildren, Anthony and Amelia Savino, Thomas Barber, and Samantha and Chloe Terrana. He is also survived by his siblings, Ross ‘Russ’ Toarmino, Jane (William) Hartley, Michael (Rose) Rizzo, Patricia Johnson, Chris (Kathy) Rizzo, Peggy (Donald) Schildhauer, and Kara (William) Hartman; his father-in-law, William (Linda) Ross and his sister-in-law, Dawn (Ed Page) Hilton, his brother-in-law, Brian (DeeAnn) Ross, his aunts Ann (Peter) Stinis and Gloria (late Carmen) Falbo and his special cousin, Carmen Toromino. Uncle Joe will be missed by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, as well as his many friends.  He was predeceased by several aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 20 from 2 – 4:30 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304, where funeral services will begin at 4:30 PM, concluding with Military Honors.  If desired, memorial offerings may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Niagara Hospice.  Visit mjcoluccifuneralchapel.com for online condolences.
