Sophomore Samuel Nykamp earned bronze in the men’s 1-meter dive and the women’s 800 freestyle relay garnered silver, while three of the four relays established program records on the first day of the 2023 MAAC Swimming and Diving Championships at the Burt Flickinger Center Pool in downtown Buffalo.

Nykamp dove a 241.85 in the 1-meter dive for the third-place finish, coming in behind Rider’s Marcas Racevicius (250.60) and Sean Binning (282.05).

The women’s relay of freshmen Lana Janson and Hannah Brainard, senior Grace Van Burenand sophomore Ashley Allaire swam a time of 7:34.46 for second place.

The time also established a program record, which bested the time 7:34.76 from the 2014-15 season.

The women’s 200 medley relay of Allaire, Janson, Van Buren and junior Jordan O’Connor also broke the program record with a time of 1:44.77.

The quartet bests the 1:45.30 time, which was established in 2019-20.

On the men’s side, the 800 freestyle relay consisting of sophomore Archie Minto, sophomores Samuel Vidal and Joe Cooper and graduate student Liam O’Connell swam a 6:44.30, which was good for six place in the event.

The time was also a program best, topping the time of 6:49.03 from the 2019-20 campaign.
