
DEACON JIMMIE RAGSDALE EXUM, age 79, born in Memphis, TN, spent most of his adult life in Buffalo, New York. Jimmie served in the
United States Air Force 1963- 1967. He peacefully transitioned from this life on February 5, 2023, with his family by his side.
Jimmie R. Exum was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Betty L. Exum; parents, Jimmy and Rudell Exum; brothers, Earnest, Horace (survived by Marie Exum), and Sylvester Exum; and his sister, Helen Porter.
Jimmie leaves to cherish his memories his four children: sons, Lieutenant Darren D. Exum (Janine Rudd-Exum), Dwayne A. Exum (Monica Minor-Exum), Jermel Exum (Tiffany Redfern-Exum); and daughter, Dr. Angela L. Exum; grandchildren, Jamar Exum, Darren D. Exum Jr., Jazlyn A. Exum, Alexandria T. Ferary, Alauna DeBose, Amiliyon Redfern, Jermel N. Exum, Jerrell A. Exum and Dwayne A. Exum Jr; great-grandchildren, Shiloh, Jamari, Jermaine, and Jakobi; three brothers, William (Mary) Exum of Flowery, GA, Robert (Dorothy) Exum of Oakridge, TN, and Sherman (Janie) Exum of Memphis, TN; three sisters, Annette (Fredrick) Robinson, Colene (Charles) Wade and Sandra Brown, all of Memphis, TN; along with a host of loving nieces, nephews, sisters-in-laws, brothers-in-laws, extended family members and friends.
He will be missed by all. The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, February 13, 2023, 11 AM – 12 PM at Bright Morningstar Missionary Baptist Church, 292 Glenwood Avenue, where a Celebration of Life will be conducted at 12 PM. Reverend Paul Morris Jr. officiating. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery.
