Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces 44-year-old Mujihad Miller of Buffalo was arraigned this morning before State Supreme Court Justice M. William Boller on an indictment charging him with one count of Murder in the Second Degree (Class “A-I” felony) and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree (Class “C” violent felony).
It is alleged that on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at approximately 2:14 p.m., the defendant intentionally shot the victim with an illegal handgun. The shooting occurred while the victim was sitting inside of a vehicle, which was stopped a red light at the intersection of William Street and Hickory Street in the City of Buffalo.
The victim, 30-year-old John “Rico” Walker, Jr. of Buffalo, was unconscious when he was taken by ambulance to ECMC with a gunshot wound to his head. Walker died from the injury at the hospital a few days later.
Miller was held without bail. A return court date has not been scheduled at this time.
If convicted of the highest charge, Miller faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Rebecca L. Schnirel of the Homicide Unit.
As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
