ITHACA — The Purple Eagles competed Saturday afternoon at the Kane Invitational, in its first of two exhibition meets this season.

Meet Recap
• Freshman Mychena Smith, and Clara Barr ran the 60m hurdles where Barr finished one spot out of the top eight with a personal best time of 9.44. Smith ran in her first ever 60m hurdles finishing 16th out of 19 with a time of 10.62.
• Next on the Track were the women’s 60m dashes that saw newcomer Daniela Velez and team captain Amani Scott finish with respectable times of 8.35 and 8.30, respectively, both top-20 finishes in the event. 
• Barr took part in the long jump, where she placed fourth overall with her first jump of 5.18 meters. 
• Freshman Margaret Nawojski placed 15th out of 35 runners in the mile with a time of 5:39.53. 

• The 400m saw three Purple Eagles finish in the top-10 and another two finishing in the top-13. sophomore Hope Abramowski (1:02.95), freshman Vanessa Woolery (1:03.65), junior Kate Pratt (1:04.49), sophomore Lara Gritzek (1:07.16), and sophomore Victoria Achtiziger- Hughes (1:11.13).

• Scott, Abramoski, Velez, Smith each competed in the 200m, with Scott finishing 14th with a time of 27.44. Velez finished 16th with a time of 27.60, followed by Abramowski in 20th with a time of 28.21, and coming in at 30.00 flat was Smith in 26th.

• The Purple Eagles saw four 800m runners Alissa MeteAnnina MarulloSara Mueller, and Lydia Chunco finish 10th, 11th, 15th, and 17th out a field of 23 runners. Mete completed the event with a time of 2:32.69, followed by Marullo and Mueller with times of 2:33.89 and 2:39.15, respectively. Chunco posted a time of 2:41.08. 
• The last event of the day for the Purple Eagles  was the Women’s 4x400m relay. The quartet of Lara Gritzek, Pratt, Scott, and Abramowski finished 4th with a time of 4:18.35. 

Coach Rakieem Salaam’s Comments
“Today was a great day for us to be able to get out and compete, as the season continues to progress, we should see solid improvements. Today was mostly about the women being able to spike up and run in an actual meet for the first time this season.”
