Shirley K. Venturin, 89, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on January 5, 2023 at her residence under the care of Niagara Hospice.  Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of late Gordon A. MacKay and the late Ivy C. (Clarke) Hughes.

Shirley was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School.  She was employed as a bookkeeper at Nabisco Shredded Wheat for 18 years.   She later worked as an account clerk for the Town of Niagara for 10 years, and as a bookkeeper at her brother’s practice, Lewiston Chiropractic, for 2 years.  Shirley was a devoted member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church.  She was at her happiest when she was surrounded by family, especially her grandchildren.  She enjoyed baking and was a member of several card groups and senior groups.  Shirley will be remembered most for her sense of humor, her warmness, and her kind heart.

Shirley is survived by her children, Dr. Dean (Catherine) Venturin, Jon (late Jeanne) Venturin, Kristy (Roger) Smith, and Kathy (Robert) Costanzo; her grandchildren, Dean (Rachel) Venturin II, Alec (Alfaneris) Venturin, Timothy Venturin, Courtney Venturin, Savannah Smith, Tyler Smith, Madison Smith, Francesca (Stephen) Yarbrough, Robert Costanzo, and Vincenza Costanzo; a great-granddaughter, Ashlee Day; her siblings, Constance MacKay, Dr. Scott (Nancy) McKay, her step-sister, Lorraine Reynolds, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was predeceased by her former husband, Felice F. (Cookey) Venturin, her granddaughter, Jennifer Costanzo, her sister, Bobbi (late Rudy) Bensen, her step-siblings, Druscilla (late Bob) Utter and Francis (Dorothy) Hughes.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 10 from 3 – 7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304, concluding with prayers at 7 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial and interment in St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, Niagara Falls, NY will be held at a future date to be announced.  In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to Niagara Hospice.  Visit mjcoluccifuneralchapel.com for online condolences.
