HUNTINGDON, PA – The Buffalo State men’s basketball team fell to Gwynedd Mercy in the semifinals of the Juniata College Tournament on Monday evening by a score of 83-62.

INSIDE THE BENGAL BOX SCORE

  • Jaiden Allen (Marlboro, NY/Marlboro) led Buffalo State with 17 points.
  • Robert Richards (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville South) chipped in eight points and grabbed a team-high nine boards.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • A jump shot by Richards just under three minutes into the game gave the Bengals a 4-2 lead, before the Griffins went on a 14-6 run over the next seven minutes.
  • Buffalo State responded with an 11-0 run thanks to eight points from Matt Parkinson (Springfield Gardens, NY/John Browne), a pair of 3-pointers and two free throws, and another triple by Mustafa Abokar (Buffalo, NY/Grand Island), taking a 21-16 advantage.
  • After bouncing back to knot the score at 27-27, Gwynedd Mercy hit back-to-back 3-pointers to go up by six with three minutes left in the half, and extended the lead to 39-31 at halftime.
  • A 3-pointer by Allen with 17 minutes to go in the second half brought the Bengals to within three points at 41-38.
  • The Griffins immediately responded with a 15-4 run, and were able to extend the lead to as many as 28 as they cruised to victory in the final minutes.

FOR THE FOES

  • Aziz Parker scored 27 points, while Manny Clark had 25 points for Gwynedd Mercy.
