John F. Portik, Jr., of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away December 15, 2022. Born in Niagara Falls, he was the son of the late John and Margaret ‘Inez’ (Morse) Portik; and the loving husband of Josephine Judith (Marra) Portik, who he married May 22, 1971 in St. Joseph Church.

John was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed at Occidental Chemical Corp as a Chemical Operator, retiring in 1998 after 31 years.

John was active with the VVA Chapter 681 where he served as a President. He was dedicated to aiding the Veterans suffering from PTSD and took pride in serving them meals and comfort monthly.  He was also instrumental in assisting the homeless Veterans.

John enjoyed watching professional wrestling and was an avid Buffalo Bills fan. He also loved fishing and hunting in his younger years. Above all, John loved being with his family who will miss him dearly.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, John III and Judith-Anne Portik; two grandchildren, Alissa and Tyler Portik; his brother, Donald (Joan) Portik, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 22 from 3 – 7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. John’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, January 3 at 12 Noon in St. Joseph’s Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY. Military honors and interment in St. Joseph Cemetery.
