Renato J. Conte, 94, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on December 11, 2022 at Schoellkopf Health Care Facility.  Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Giacomo and Anna (Rovera) Conte.

Renato graduated from Centre Avenue, North Junior and Trott Vocational High School.  After graduating, he worked on a lake steamer.  He proudly served in the United States Navy from 1946 until his honorable discharge in 1947, and crossed the equator on the U.S.S. Duluth in 1947.  After returning from the Navy, Renato worked as a metalsmith and worked at several local plants.  He was then invited to join the Carpenter’s Union, working as a millwright for 28 years, and retired from Sevenson Environmental.  Renato spent 40 years with Mary Laduca until her passing.  Fortunately, after her passing, he met Lucy Smeal, whom he had already known for over 20 years and whom had also lost her partner.  They spent the rest of his life together.  Renato enjoyed bowling, golfing and reading, and will be remembered most for his caring and kind nature.

In addition to his longtime companion Lucy, Renato is survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.  In addition to his former companion, Mary, he was predeceased by his siblings, Yolanda (late Salvatore ‘Sam’) Pascucci, his twin brother, Reno (late Claire) Conte, Robert (Barbara) Conte, and his infant brother, Mario Conte.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 20, from 4 – 7 PM at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY 14304, where funeral services will be held at 7 PM concluding with Military Honors.
