On February 22nd, 2022, Troopers out of SP Jamestown arrested Brett Shafer, 53, of Jamestown, for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree. 

Shafer was pulled over for driving erratically on Route 430 in Bemus Point and after failing several SFSTs, Shafer was placed under arrest. Found in Shafer’s possession was a metal knuckle knife and 29 Zolpidem Tartrate pills. Shafer was transported to SP Jamestown where he was evaluated by a New York State Police Drug Recognition Expert and determined to be impaired by multiple drugs. After Shafer provided a blood sample at UPMC Hospital in Jamestown, he was transported back to SP Jamestown where he was processed, issued traffic and appearance tickets and released. Shafer is scheduled to appear in the town of Ellery Court next month.
