ROOSEVELT HOLLOWAY, JR. was born in Metter, Georgia on June 3, 1956, to Marie Foots Hodge and the late Roosevelt Holloway, Sr.

In 1958, Roosevelt’s mother decided to relocate to Buffalo, New York with her beloved baby boy. Joining Roosevelt’s grandmother and family, Marie built a life for herself and her only child in the city they came to call home.

Danny, as he is affectionately known to family, attended grammar school and high school in Buffalo Public schools. After high school, he worked with his mother at the former Columbus Hospital in Buffalo. Danny went on to work as a baker in both Rochester, New York and Irving, Texas.

Danny enjoyed all types of sports. In his youth, he especially loved to play basketball with his cousin Bernard (a/k/a Nelson), and their neighborhood friends. He loved fishing, watching baseball and football games with his mom, and watching movies with his daughter, Shamika. He made up affectionate names for his grandchildren including, ‘Stinky’ and ‘Bay-Bay.’

He avoided taking pictures unless one of his grandchildren asked him to. If you saw Danny around town, count on it that he was always in a baseball cap. And if he sat in a chair too long, undoubtedly, you’d hear him loudly humming a tune.

On December 2, 2021, Roosevelt “Danny” Holloway, Jr. entered into eternal rest.

Danny leaves to cherish his life filled with fond memories: his loving and doting mother, Marie Foots Hodge; his four treasured children, Carisa Holloway (life partner, Edward Adams), Roosevelt T. Holloway, Machon Holloway and Shamika Holloway; his adored eight grandchildren; his wife, Vicky Williams; a nephew, Curtis Hodge; one sister, Deborah Sue Hodge; and a host of other loving family members and friends.

Roosevelt is preceded in death by his father, Roosevelt Holloway, Sr.; his beloved maternal grandparents, John Foots and Susie Lee Foots; his special aunts, Juanita Foots Harris, and Cynthia Powell; a special uncle, Yahya ‘David’ Salaam; and other aunts and uncles.

The family will receive friends Thursday, December 9, 2021, 10 AM at THOMAS T. EDWARDS FUNERAL HOME, INC., 995 Genesee Street. Funeral Services to follow at 11 AM. Interment St. John Cemetery.
