The Buffalo Sabres today announced the team has named Jeremiah Crowe its director of scouting. In addition, director of analytics Jason Nightingale has added the title of assistant director of scouting.
Career History:
- Began his scouting career with a professional scouting internship with the Sabres in 2008. Re-joined the team in 2017-18 for his first of three seasons as a pro scout.
- Spent two seasons with USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program; served as assistant director of player personnel in 2015-16 before being promoted to director of player personnel for the 2016-17 season.
- Prior to joining USA Hockey, worked as a coach at LECOM Harborcenter’s Academy of Hockey beginning at the Academy’s inception in 2014.
- Also spent two seasons (2013-14 and 2014-15) as a scout for the Dubuque Fighting Saints (USHL) and served as an assistant coach at Buffalo State College from 2011-12 through 2013-14.
- Appeared in 91 NCAA games as a defenseman for the Clarkson Golden Knights; won the school’s fifth ECAC Championship as a freshman in 2006-07.
Career History:
- Served as the Sabres’ director of analytics in 2018-19 and 2019-20 after spending the previous five seasons with the team in the analytics department.
- Earned a joint Ph.D. in Mathematics and Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame in 2013.
- Coaching experience includes two seasons as a volunteer assistant coach at the University of Notre Dame, three seasons with Culver Military Academy and two seasons at Marian High School in Indiana, as well as a role at several USA Hockey national camps.
- Played four NCAA seasons (1998-99 to 2001-02) as a forward at Lake Superior State University while earning his undergraduate degree. Also served as an alternate captain for the Des Moines Buccaneers (USHL) in 1997-98, helping lead the Buccaneers to a regular-season title, a Clark Cup appearance and a USA Hockey Gold Cup title.
