TOWN OF LOCKPORT — A 28-year-old Lockport man has been charged with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon following a fatal shooting Easter Sunday. 


According to New York State Police, the Bureau of Criminal Investigation arrested Davaris M. Hodge on Friday and charged him with the crime. 


On April 12, at approximately 2:33 a.m. New York State Police had responded to a shooting on Cambridge Drive. Troopers located the victim, Leon Johnson, 36 at his residence. Johnson sustained multiple gunshot wounds and Troopers rendered medical aid but Johnson succumb to his wounds. Johnson was taken to Erie County Medical Center for an autopsy. 


The Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) out of SP Lockport continued with the investigation and ultimately locating Hodge at a motel in Rochester. Hodge was arrested and brought to SP Batavia for processing, arraigned in Niagara County and remanded to the Niagara County Jail.



NYSP Forensic Identification Unit, Niagara County District Attorney’s Office, Troop E Bureau of Criminal Investigation and local law enforcement agencies assisted in this investigation.
