YORKSHIRE — A 23-year-old East Aurora man was charged Saturday with driving while intoxicated and drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle on a highway following a traffic stop.

According to New York State Police, during a traffic stop on Savage Road in the town of Yorkshire, Troopers determined Trevor L. Belz had been operating a vehicle while in an intoxicated condition. Several open containers of alcohol were also found in the vehicle. He failed standardized field sobriety tests at the scene. Belz was then arrested and transported to SP Machias, where a chemical breath test revealed him to have a 0.17% BAC.

Belz was released with appearance tickets for Yorkshire Town Court, where he is due to appear later this month.
