SHERMAN — A 26-year-old Sherman woman was charged with petit larceny on Monday, accused of trying to fool a Dollar General cashier into letting her leave with an extra $50.

According to New York State Police, Troopers responded to the Dollar General for a report of larceny.  The complainant alleged that Emily Walker requested change for a $50.00 bill and when the cashier wasn’t looking, Walker took the $50.00 from the counter and put it into her pocket.  Walker was questioned about the location of the $50.00 and she insisted that the cashier already put it into the register.  Walker then accepted the change she requested and the cashier later noticed that the drawer was $50.00 short.

The employees viewed the surveillance footage and observed Walker pocketing the $50.00 when the cashier was getting the change. Walker was arrested, processed at SP Jamestown and released with an appearance ticket. Walker is scheduled to appear in the town of Sherman Court on a later date.
