CLINTON — Erin Ebert of Penfield was named the recipient of The Ann Miller Harden Prize Scholarship at the annual Convocation ceremony, held on Aug. 28. Ebert, a junior majoring in art and biology, is a graduate of Penfield High School.

Members of the administration welcomed students and new faculty, and academic achievement prizes were awarded to students at the ceremony officially marking the beginning of Hamilton’s 208th academic year.

The Ann Miller Harden Prize Scholarship, established in memory of Ann Miller Harden in 1993 by her husband and longtime trustee David E. Harden, Class of 1948, is awarded to the outstanding woman painter at the end of her sophomore year.

Originally founded in 1793 as the Hamilton-Oneida Academy, Hamilton College offers an open curriculum that gives students the freedom to shape their own liberal arts education within a research- and writing-intensive framework.
