BOLIVAR — A 37-year-old Bolivar woman was charged Thursday with first-degree filing a false instrument and third-degree welfare fraud.

According to New York State Police, an investigation led Troopers to discover Stephanie J. Moyer had filed false paperwork with Allegany County DSS while applying for public assistance, which resulted in Moyer receiving $6,019 in benefits to which she was not entitled.

Moyer was arrested and arraigned in Friendship Town Court where she was remanded to the Allegany County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail or $10,000 bond. She is due to appear in Belmont Village Court later this month.
