Canisius women’s lacrosse head coach Allsion Daley and rising sophomore Skylar McArthur will represent Canada at the 2019 Women’s Lacrosse U19 World Championship in their hometown of Peterborough, Ontario, Aug 1-10.
Daley will serve as the team’s associate head coach, while McArthur was named to the final roster as a member of the defensive unit.
McArthur joins the list of Canisius women’s lacrosse student-athletes to represent Team Canada at the U19 World Championship. The list includes Daley, Ashley Bull, Whitney Card, Tessa Chad, Erica Evans, BobbiJo Harris, Carly Quinn, Tori Quinn, Alison Rusack, Brenna Shanahan and Awehiyo Thomas.
Canada enters the 2019 championship in the same pool as England, Australia and the United States. The Red and White begin their title defense Friday, Aug. 2, when they square off with England at 8 p.m. from Justin Chiu Stadium on the campus of Trent University. A rematch of the 2015 gold-medal game between Canada and the USA is set for Sunday, Aug. 4 at 8 p.m.
To advance to the medal-round of competition, Canada must finish as one of the top-three seeds in its pool. Medal-round action begins Tuesday, Aug. 6 and runs through Saturday, Aug. 10th, with the gold-medal game set for an opening draw of 3 p.m.
