The Wings made their bid to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth, against reliever Geoff Hartlieb. Rosario led off with a bloop hit down the right field line, and hustled all the way to second base to put the tying run into scoring position. Zander Wiel followed with a double, scoring Rosario to the game at 6-6. A throwing error allowed Wiel to slide into third base, putting the winning run 90 feet away with no outs. De Aza was called out on strikes, and Wynston Sawyer also struck out. Hartlieb fanned Ronald Torreyes to wriggle out of the jam and send the game into extra innings.
Zack Littell took over on the mound to start the 10th inning, and got himself into a tight spot after a pair of walks loaded the bases with one out. A pop fly down the left field line deflected off the glove of De Aza, who made a long run just to get to the ball. The play was scored a fielder’s choice with RBI, pushing the Indians back ahead 7-6.
