TECHNICAL MUSIC REVIEW

Virginity Fraud  is releasing their brutal and disgusting debut “Rejected By Death, An Imperishable Torment” tomorrow June 20th and I have the low down on this nasty album.  If you’re familiar with Facelift Deformation  this is the guitarist Wilson’s latest project.  The band is making some stellar waves lately, recently signing to up and coming label Miasma Records.  Virginity Fraud also premiered their first song through Slam Worldwide titled “Changeless Nature Of A Man”.  Phew! So after all of that is out of the way, you can assume things are in full force for this project.  The band has CD’S and tapes as well of the album up for grabs, if you like what the single offers grab one of those to support the band and label!  You can do so by hitting the link for Miasma Records.

This album is ridiculous let me tell you.  They’re so heavy and groovy it’s a breath of fresh air in comparison to run in the mill brutal death metal.  The vocals are clear, concise and super varied.  Sure, there’s lots of low gutturals to keep things nasty.  But there’s plenty of mid and higher pitched growls that make you stay interested (vocally at least).  The more I listen to it, the more it might sneak its way onto my favorite brutal death metal releases of 2019.  The production is also pretty good, I have to say.  Either it’s overproduced and very modern sounding….or it’s a dirty, muddy production like it was recorded in your grandma’s basement in the late 1980’s/early 1990’s.  There isn’t much middle ground when it comes to brutal death metal as far as production goes. For this album though, every instrument and the vocals stand out but nothing dominates the mix to the point its unlistenable.  A good producer makes a band sound even better, and Virginity Fraud got a stellar production for their debut album.

The guitar riffs are pretty stellar too.  There’s lots of slower rhythms as expected in the genre, but there’s actually some quicker parts in the band’s songs believe it or not.  The rhythm section is nasty both bass and drums.  Very engaging, heavy and keep some great grooves throughout the entire album.  Clocking in at a shorter 21+ minute runtime, the lads keep you pressing the play button over and over again.  This 9 track album will keep you going back for more every time and I’ve found myself doing that a handful of times since I got the green light tor review this album.  That album artwork is freaking awesome too, isn’t it?

Virginity Fraud’s debut album is a legitimate smash, bring that slam hammer motherfuckers.  The band meshes classic brutal death metal and slightly modernized it a bit.  Some old school death metal lovers and new schoolers can meet in the middle with a band of this caliber for sure.  You can listen to the single below, and starting Thursday the album will be available for you all to smash the shit out of stuff! Don’t forget to preorder if you really dig what you hear, it means the world to smaller bands to help them out.
