SYRACUSE — The Red Wings lost 5-4 in 10 innings to the Syracuse Mets Monday night at NBT Ballpark.
Rochester (20-33) is now just 2-6 in extra-inning games this season.
Syracuse jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning off Wings opener Gabriel Moya, but Randy Dobnak entered in the second and tossed six scoreless innings which allowed the offense to catch up.
Wilin Rosario put the Wings on the board with an RBI single in the second and Jordany Valdespin tied the game in the fourth with a two-run triple. 
The game would remain tied at three into the 10th inning. 
Rosario blooped in an RBI single in the top of the inning, but a Travis Taijeron triple and Luis Guillorme single plated the tying and winning runs, respectively, in the bottom of the frame.
DJ Baxendale had tossed two scoreless innings prior to allowing the runs in the 10th inning and suffering the loss.
Rosario finished with three hits, while Brent Rooker was the only other Red Wing with multiple hits (2-for-4).
Game two of the four-game series is Tuesday afternoon at 1:05 pm.
