Francis (Fran) James Kenneth, of Gasport, entered into rest on January 8, 2019. Born January 25, 1933, in Lockport, he was the son of James and Vina (Urtel) Kenneth.  An accomplished athlete, Fran attended DeSales Catholic School and served in the Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany and Italy. In 1955, he married Joanne Isackson.  For 31 years, Fran worked at Lockport’s Post Office. He owned and operated Kenneth’s Grocery Store on Davison Road. He worked as a security officer until 80 years of age. A tireless worker, when encouraged by his family to retire at the ripe age of 80, he replied, “Why would I do that?”  Fran was passionate about racing horses and owned several horses over the years. He loved participating in and watching sports, especially the Buffalo Bills. He attended The Chapel at Lockport with his family.

Fran is survived by Joanne (Isackson); children Jim (Candy), Tom (Laura), Mike (Stephanie) and Sue (Tim); several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at The Chapel at Lockport on Friday, January 11 at 11am. Interment will be in Glenwood Cemetery immediately following the service.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of Niagara. Condolences can be made at pruddenandkandt.com.
