STEAMBURG — A 26-year-old Steamburg man was charged today with third-degree false reporting of an incident, making a punishable false written statement and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation. 
According to New York State Police, on Sunday, Matthew Mansfield called 911 to report that his truck was stolen from his property and signed a deposition requesting the responsible party arrested. Evidence at the scene where Mansfield’s truck was located and witness interviews revealed that Mansfield’s truck had malfunctioned while Mansfield was driving it and Mansfield walked home when he was unable to get the truck restarted. 
Mansfield was placed under arrest and processed at SP Jamestown. As Mansfield’s license had two active suspensions, he was additionally charged with AUO 3rd Degree. Mansfield was issued appearance tickets and traffic tickets and is scheduled to appear in the town of Cold Spring Court next month to answer the charges.
