CANISIUS COLLEGE ATHLETICS

Stevenson, Morro, Wilson All-Canadian
BUFFALO, N.Y. — Canisius senior Conner Morro and two former Golden Griffins, J.P. Stevenson and Liam Wilson, were recently named to the 19th annual All-Canadian college team, the Canadian Baseball Network announced last week. All three honorees were members of Canisius’ 2018 MAAC championship squad.

Stevenson was named to the All-Canadian First Team as the top Canadian collegiate left-handed pitcher. The New Glasgow, P.E.I., native finished his collegiate career by racking up several other honors, including 2018 MAAC Pitcher of the Year, 2018 MAAC Championship Most Valuable Player, 2018 All-America Third Team and 2018 ABCA All-New England Region First Team. Stevenson’s 93 strikeouts and 10 victories led the conference, and the lefty also ranked second in the MAAC with 99.0 innings pitched.

Morro, a native of Cheltenham, Ontario, earned All-Canadian Second Team honors at shortstop. The senior had a remarkable first season with the Griffs, where he ranked fourth in the MAAC with a .448 on-base percentage and eighth with a .342 batting average. The transfer from Chattanooga State shined during postseason play, where he racked up eight hits and scored six runs in four games at the MAAC Championship before recording a hit in both games at the NCAA Regional in Minnesota.

The All-Canadian Third Team included Wilson for the second-straight year, as the Ayr, Ontario native finished the 2018 season ranked third in the NCAA with 27 doubles. A two-time All-MAAC First Team selection, Wilson was also named to the 2018 All-America Third Team and ABCA All-New England Region First Team. The third baseman belted out 78 hits to finish second in the conference. Additionally, Wilson ranked third in the MAAC with a .624 slugging percentage and fifth with a .353 batting average.

After finishing their careers with the Blue and Gold, Stevenson and Wilson made their professional debuts last July for the Quebec Capitales of the Can-Am League.

Morro and the Griffs return to action when the squad opens the 2019 season Feb. 15 at North Carolina Central.
