A 27-year-old Belmont woman was charged with Welfare Fraud and Filing a False Instrument on November 13, 2018 following an investigation by New York State Police.

According to New York State Troopers, an investigation led officers to discover that Megan C. Derrick had filed false paperwork with Allegany County DSS, by which she obtained $3,215.00 of public assistance to which she was not entitled.

Derrick was arrested and arraigned in Friendship Town Court and released on her own recognizance. She is due to return to Belmont Village Court later this month.
