BUFFALO STATE ATHLETICS

Kordrupel
INDIANAPOLIS, I.N. — The NCAA officially announced the field for the 2018 Division III Women’s Cross Country Championships and for the first time ever, Buffalo State will have an entrant in the field as senior Ronni Kordrupel (East Aurora/Iroquois) has earned an invitation based on her performance as Saturday’s Atlantic Regional.

The hospitality administration will make Buffalo State history when she competes at the Championship meet hosted by the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh at the Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne, Wisc. this Saturday.  The race will begin at 12:15 p.m. Eastern.

Kordrupel became Buffalo State’s first All-Region performer on the women’s side since 2006 when she placed 18th in the 305-runner field at the Atlantic Regional in Glassboro, N.J. this past Saturday, traversing the 6K course in 23:13.

Thirty-two teams were selected to participate in the championship.  The top two, seven-person teams automatically qualified from each of the eight regions, for a total of 16 teams, and 16 additional teams are selected at-large.  Then, 56 individuals, the first seven student-athletes from each region who are not a part of a qualifying team, are also selected to participate in the championship.

Five teams were chosen from the Atlantic Region, putting Kordrupel as the fifth-fastest individual not on a qualifying team, punching her ticket to Saturday’s championship meet.
