Northeast Regional Championships

The Niagara University women’s cross country team is sending seven runners to compete at the Northeast Regional Championships, hosted by the University at Buffalo in Amherst, New York.

Pre-Race Notes
  • Niagara’s abbreviated squad will include Nora KlinowskiJulia FreemireMallory RonanMeggie HartElle RussellCasey Roman and Grace Kibler.
  • Klinowski finished each of the team’s five races with the fastest time of any Niagara runner. She set three personal records this season, two in 5k races and one in a 6k.
  • At MAAC Championships on October 27, Roman (27:02) and Kibler (27:31) set PRs in the 6k.
  • Niagara’s best collective showing came on October 13 at the Canisius Alumni Classic. The women had six runners earn their best finish in a 5k as Purple Eagles, not including Klinowski’s best 5k time ever.
 
About the Northeast Regional Championships

  • This will be the third time UB has hosted the regionals, and the second time in as many years. The Bulls first hosted the event in 2011.
  • In 2011, Kim Vona led Niagara by finishing the 6k in a time of 23:16, ending up in 121st place out of 243 female runners.
  • The last time Niagara sent a women’s squad to the Northeast Regional Championships was 2015, when it was held in Boston’s historic Franklin Park. Kayla Murphy had the Purple Eagles’s top score with a 23:57. Caroline Hampton followed with a time of 24:27, with Danielle Dorogi (25:39), Tyler Levengood (25:46) and Sarah Grubbs (25:46) completing the team scores.
