WINTHROP, M.A. — Sophomore goaltender Brian Wilson has been named Goalie of the Week by Atlantic Hockey, as announced on Tuesday.
Wilson’s weekend at Air Force was highlighted by a 39-save shutout in Niagara’s 5-0 victory on October 25. It was his second career shutout and was just one save short of tying his all-time high. The following evening, Wilson stopped 32 shots in Niagara’s 2-1 loss to the Falcons.
The native of Pickering, Ontario lowered his goals-against average to 1.76 this weekend and improved his save percentage to .942 on the season. Wilson now owns a 2-2-0 record, only allowing seven goals in his four appearances.
The Purple Eagles (2-4-0, 2-2-0 AHA) are back on the road this weekend at conference foe Robert Morris. Puck drop for both games on Friday, Nov. 2 and Saturday, Nov. 3 will be at 7 p.m. These will be the final two games of the road trip before Niagara returns home to take on Holy Cross on Ovember 9 and 10.
