ONEONTA, N.Y.—Fourth-seeded host Oneonta scored just 1:39 into the game and never looked back in a 4-0 victory over No. 5 Buffalo State today in a SUNYAC Quarterfinal matchup.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Red Dragons took control from the opening whistle and led 3-0 less than 30 minutes into the game. 
  • After striking less than two minutes into the contest, Oneonta added first-half tallies in the 19th and 30thminutes, wrapping up the opening frame with a three-goal lead and a 9-5 advantage in shot attempts.
  • Oneonta did not relinquish control in the second half, outshooting the Bengals 10-3 while holding a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks, and added an insurance marker in the 56th minute.
  • The Red Dragons finished with a 19-8 advantage in shot attempts for the game.
  • Dylan Guarino (Tonawanda/Kenmore East) made six saves in the loss.

  • Roberto Ventura, Alejandro Ruiz, Jeremy Pantoni and Witman Hernandez all scored for Oneonta.

 
NOTEWORTHY

  • Buffalo State finished the season with 11 wins, making this senior class the third winningest class in the history of the program with 46 wins in four years.
