The Canisius swimming and diving programs will host Geneseo Saturday in their home opener. Meet time at the Burt Flickinger Center in Buffalo, N.Y., is set for 1 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
• The Canisius men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams earned sweep on the road at The University of Rochester on Oct. 20.
• The Golden Griffins posted a 179-112 victory over the Yellowjackets in the men’s competition, and the visiting team scored a 176-126 win in the women’s event.
• The women’s team claimed top-spots in eight of 14 races.
• In the men’s diving portion, sophomore Brett Palo earned his first collegiate sweep, earning top-finishes on both the 1-meter (301.50) and 3-meter (285.82) boards.
• On the women’s side, freshman Cara Smith earned top-honors in the 1,000-yard free race and tallied a second-place finish in the 500-yard free race.
• In the men’s competition, the relay team of juniors Kenyon Winkky and Kyle Griffin, sophomore Lucas Kennedy and freshman Kyle Kimerer started the day off by winning the 200-yard medley.
COSTANZO AND KENNEDY EARN MAAC WEEKLY HONORS
• Sophomore Lucas Kennedy was named the MAAC’s Male Swimmer of the Week on Oct. 24 after having a successful meet against the University of Rochester.
• Kennedy earned top finishes in the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke events. His time of 56.30 in the 100-yard breaststroke broke a 24-year-old pool record, surpassing the 58:18 mark set in 1994.
• Junior Vinnie Costanzo was named the MAAC’s Female Diver of the Week on Wednesday.
• The Lewiston, N.Y., native took top honors in the 3-meter event with a score of 265.57, and then posted a score of 248.16 to secure a second-place finish on the 1-meter board against the University of Rochester.
ABOUT THE KNIGHTS
• Geneseo men’s squad has won five-consecutive State University of New York Athletic Conference Championships, winning 17 titles in 18 seasons under head coach Paul Dotterweich.
• On the men’s side, the Knights return eight all-conference selections from last season.
• The Geneseo women’s swimming & diving has won 11-consecutive SUNYAC titles and 15 under head coach Paul Dotterweich. The Knights have won 26 SUNYAC titles in 35 years of competition, the most by any swimming and diving team, men’s or women’s, in conference history.

• Both the Griffs return to action Nov.3, when they face-off against Colgate. That event will be held at the Burt Flickinger Center pool in downtown Buffalo.
