Scouting Canisius
• The Griffs play their first non-conference contest of the season after opening the 2018-19 campaign with splits of Atlantic Hockey Association series against Holy Cross and Air Force.
• Senior Dylan McLaughlin paces the Canisius attack, registering six points on two goals and four assists. McLaughlin begins the weekend ranked among the top 10 players in the nation in career points (113), assists (72) and goals (41).
• Sophomore Grant Meyer is second on the squad’s scoring chart with five points (1g, 4a). Meyer is the only Canisius player to tally a point in each of the Griffs’ first four contests.
• Juniors Matt Hoover and Nick Hutchison are tied for the team lead with three goals each. Hoover has found the back of the net in each of Canisius’ last three contests heading into Saturday’s contest.
• Junior Blake Weyrick and sophomore Tucker Weppner have split time in the goal thus far.
Weyrick leads the team with a 3.08 goals against average and a .898 save percentage in two appearances.
Canisius Posts Split with Air Force in Home Opener
• Canisius opened the home portion of its 2018-19 schedule with a split of its series against Atlantic Hockey preseason favorite Air Force last weekend at Harborcenter.
• Paced by a hat trick from Evan Feno, the Falcons claimed the opener by a 7-3 margin before the Griffs battled back for a 2-0 triumph in the finale.
• Senior Dylan McLaughlin (1a, 2a) and junior Grant Meyer (1g, 2a) led the Griffs offensively during the series while junior Matt Hoover (2g) and sophomore Austin Alger (2a) also contributed multiple points during the two-game set.
• Sophomore Blake Weyrick made his first two starts in goal and posted his first collegiate victory during the finale, stopping all 34 shots faced.
Scouting Clarkson
• Clarkson enters Saturday’s non-conference contest with a 2-2-0 overall record after recording wins against No. 13 Wisconsin and Holy Cross last weekend at Cheel Arena.
• Nico Sturm has paced the Golden Knights offense in the early going, recording one goal and a team-best four assists for five points.
• Grant Cooper is the only Clarkson player with multiple goals this season as the sophomore forward has tallied three in the Golden Knights’ first four contests.
• Jake Kielly is back between the pipes following a breakout sophomore campaign that saw him garner 2018 Mike Richter Award Finalist recognition a season ago. In four games this season, Kielly has recorded a .908 save percentage and a 2.78 goals against average.
