The Canisius swimming and diving programs will take part in their second meet of the year Saturday when they compete against the University of Rochester at the Speegle-Wilbraham Center in Rochester N.Y.
 
LAST TIME OUT
• The Canisius men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams earned a split on the road at Marist Oct. 12 to open the 2018-19 season.
• For the first time in program history, the Canisius women defeated the host Red Foxes 160-140, while the men’s team fell to Marist, 178-116.
• The women’s team claimed top-spots in eight of the 14 women’s races.
• In diving, Canisius senior Vivian Mroz placed second in both the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions. 
• On the women’s side, the relay unit of sophomores Kelsey Childress and Madison Chapin, junior Ashlynn Gilfillan and freshman Madison Eufer won the women’s 200-yard medley relay.
• In the men’s competition, the relay team of juniors Kenyon Winkky and  Kyle Griffin, sophomore Lucas Kennedy and freshman Kyle Kimerer started the day off by winning the 200-yard medley.
 
ABOUT THE YELLOWJACKETS
• Last season, the Rochester women were 6-5 overall in dual match competition and ended 7th at UAA’s.
• The UR men ended with the same 6-5 dual record and also were 7th at the conference meet.
• The Yellowjackets will look to compete in a total of 11 competitions throughout the 2018-19 season beginning Oct. 20
 
CANISIUS – UNIVERSITY OF ROCHESTER 2017 RESULTS
• The Griffs posted a 195-100 victory over the Yellowjackets in the men’s competition, and the Blue and Gold scored a 182-116 win in the women’s event.
• The Canisius women’s diving team was led by Mroz and Gianna Cornelia, who took home two first-place finishes. Mroz won the 3-meter event with a score of 246.68 and Cornelia posted a 258.98 to win the 1-meter event. 
• Cassie Brousseau earned two top finishes in the 100-backstroke (1:01.23) and the 200-backstroke (2:06.54).Chapin took home two first- place finishes as well, in the 200-fly (2:11.84) and the 100-fly (59.96).
• Kennedy also produced a top-notch performance, earning victories in the 100-breaststroke (59.37) and 200-breaststroke (2:11.46) events.

• Both the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams open the home portion of their 2018 schedule against Geneseo at the Burt Flickenger Center Oct 27. Meet time in Buffalo is set for 1 p.m.
