A 31-year-old Amity man was charged with Forgery on October 3, 2018 after a report to police about a potentially altered check.
According to New York State Troopers, officers further investigated the fraud complaint which had been reported by a party residing in Belfast. The investigation revealed that James A. Cox II had altered a check that was then cashed for $200. Cox was arrested and arraigned in Belfast Town Court, where he was released on his own recognizance.
He is scheduled to reappear in Belfast Town Court later this month.
