The Canisius women’s soccer team hits to the road on Wednesday when it travels to face Marist. Game time in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., is set for 4 p.m.
 
LAST TIME OUT
• The Blue and Gold scored a 1-0 win over Manhattan Saturday afternoon at the Demske Sports Complex in Buffalo, N.Y.
• The Golden Griffins out-shot the Jaspers, 12-8, and held a 7-2 advantage in shots on goal. Canisius also held a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks for the contest.   
• The game’s lone goal came in the 61st minute from Canisius senior Emily Czechowski. Her first marker of the season came off an assist from fellow senior Melanie Linsmair.
• Czechowski’s goal stands as the fourth of her career, while the assist for Linsmair marks her second assist of the 2018 season and third in her career.  
• Junior goalkeeper Alana Rossi was credited with two saves while Manhattan keeper Camryn Nici made one save for the Jaspers before she was replaced by Olivia Printy in the second half. Printy was credited with five saves in relief of the Jaspers’ starter in goal.
 
ROSSI SETS CANISIUS ALL-TIME CAREER SHUTOUT RECORD
• With the shutout on Saturday, Rossi moved past former Griff goalkeeper Debbie Besant for first all-time in career shutouts with 17.
• Twelve of Rossi’s school-record 17 shutouts have come on the Griffs’ home turf at the Demske Sports Complex.
 
ABOUT THE RED FOXES
• Marist is 3-4-1 on the year and 1-0-0 in MAAC play. The Red Foxes picked up its first MAAC win of the season after defeating the Iona Gaels 2-1 on the road.
• Keri Bradley and Kristen Reilly lead the Red Foxes with three goals each.
• Mairst has gotten 20 saves from junior goalkeeper Kelly Francesca Guzzo through the first eight games of the season.
• Marist has been out-shot, 100-82, this season.
 
CANISIUS – MARIST SERIES HISTORY
• Wednesday’s afternoon match will be the 23th all-time meeting between the Griffs and the Red Foxes.
• Marist leads the series, 13-7-1.
• The conference rivals first faced off in 1997, with the Red Foxes taking home the 3-1 victory. 
• Last season the Red Foxes earned a 2-1 victory over the Griffs at the Demske Sports Complex.
 
UP NEXT
• The Blue and Gold return home Sept. 29 when the team plays host to Iona. That match, which will be broadcast live on ESPN3, is set to start at 1 p.m.
