NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. — Head men’s soccer coach Bill Boyle announced the addition of Robert Cavicchia to his coaching staff on Friday afternoon.

“Rob brings several years of coaching and playing experience to our team,” said Boyle. “His background as a Division I goalkeeper at Syracuse will help our team tremendously. We are fortunate that Rob is pursuing his Masters in Sports Management here at Niagara.”

A native of Brampton, Ont., Cavicchia joins the Purple Eagles after spending two years as the Academy Director at Boost Soccer Academy.

“I am excited about the opportunity to work with the Niagara men’s soccer team,” said Cavicchia. “The players and the staff have all been very welcoming and I look forward to working alongside Coach Boyle and Coach Tanke this season.”

Prior to his stint with Boost, Cavicchia was a goalkeeper coach for the Toronto Soccer Association during the summer of 2016, and spent the two previous years serving as the Technical Director of the York Jets Soccer Club. Cavicchia also boasts experience working for the Brampton Youth Soccer Club and the U17 Central Soccer League team.

Before coaching, Cavicchia was a four-year starter in goal at Syracuse University from 2005-2008. He captained the team in his senior season, and holds the program record for minutes played (6,386) and still ranks in the top 10 in several school categories, including career shutouts (third – 22), saves (third – 293), goals-against average (fourth – 1.10), wins (T-fifth – 26) and save percentage (eighth – .790).
