SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — Buffalo State split a pair of straight-set matches to open the Union Invitational today, falling to the host Dutchwomen, before cruising past St. Michael’s.
 
MATCH #1 BASICS

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Bryanna Fisher (Brooklyn/Midwood) led an inconsistent Buffalo State attack in the first match with a team-high seven kills.
  • Hanna Cormier (Fort Edward/Warhill) posted 10 digs, while Brooke Federko (Jamestown/Jamestown) had seven assists.
  • Buffalo State posted a .118 attack percentage, compared to .427 by Union.  The Dutchwomen also held a 52-28 advantage in digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Bengals turned things around in the late match, clawing to a 25-21 win in the first set, before sprinting to the three-set win.
  • Brooke Latour (Lakewood/Southwestern) led a more balanced attack with eight of the team’s 31 kills.
  • Eimile O’Brien (Marietta/Marcellus) added seven kills.
  • Federko finished with 25 assists, two aces and six digs.
