CANISIUS COLLEGE ATHLETICS

MAAC Basketball Broadcast Scheule Release
BUFFALO, N.Y. — The 2018-19 men’s and women’s basketball television schedule for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) features eight ESPNU contests during the regular season and the conference championships, starting Jan. 10.

During the regular season five Fridays (Jan. 11, 25, Feb. 8, 22, and March 1) will feature a men’s basketball matchup on ESPNU. Four-of-the-five Fridays can have any game on the MAAC schedule flexed on to ESPNU as the MAAC Wildcard Game. The Golden Griffins are a part of three of those Friday flex game opportunities (Feb. 8 at Rider, Feb. 22 at Monmouth and March 1 at home vs. Siena).

ESPN and the MAAC will announce the Wildcard Game 21 days prior to the game. The wildcard format allows ESPN to pick any game scheduled for that specific date to air on ESPNU and allows the MAAC and ESPN the flexibility to showcase the best matchups as the season progresses.

Canisius’ full ESPN broadcast schedule for both the men’s and women’s basketball teams will be announced in the near future. The 2018-19 season will mark the fourth year where the Golden Griffin Broadcast Network will produce home basketball games for distribution on either ESPN3 or ESPN+.

In 2019, the MAAC Basketball Championships will be at the Times Union Center in Albany, N.Y. March 7-11. The men’s basketball championship semifinals will air on ESPN3 and ESPNU. The first semifinal will air at 6 p.m. live on ESPN3 and will re-air at 10:30 p.m. on ESPNU. The second semifinal will be live on ESPNU at 8:30 p.m. The women’s basketball Championship Game will air live on ESPNU at 2:30 p.m. Monday, March 11. The men’s basketball Championship Game will be on ESPN or ESPN2 on Monday, March 11 at 9 p.m. The network for the men’s championship game will be determined 7-10 days before the championship. The remainder of the MAAC Championships games will air on ESPN3 or ESPN+.

All events will be available for replay on the ESPN App or the MAAC ESPN Channel.
