The Canisius women’s soccer team looks to continue its strong start on Thursday as the Golden Griffins travel to face crosstown rival Buffalo at UB Stadium in Buffalo, N.Y. Game times is set for 7 p.m. The Blue and Gold will host Cleveland State on Sunday at the Demske Sports Complex. That game, which will be broadcast live on ESPN+, will start at 1 p.m.
 
LAST TIME OUT
• The Griffs posted a 2-2 draw with St. Bonaventure Sunday afternoon in Olean, N.Y.
• The Blue and Gold out-shot St. Bonaventure, 10-9, and led the Bonnies, 6-3, in shots on goal.    
• Canisius junior Madeline Beaulieu scored both goals for the Griffs in regulation time, but after two overtime sessions neither team was able to score.
 
BEAULIEU NAMED MAAC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
• Beaulieu was named the MAAC Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week Monday after she scored two goals last week.
• This marks the first time Beaulieu was honored by the conference office for her play on the field.
• Sunday’s two-goal performance by Beaulieu was her second career multi-goal game. She also had two goals last season, in a win over Oakland on Sept. 1. 
 
CANISIUS – BUFFALO SERIES HISTORY
• The Bulls enter the match with a 27-11-4 series lead.
• The derby rivalry began in 1997, with Canisius claiming a 2-0 victory.
• Last season, Canisius defeated Buffalo, 2-1, in overtime at The Demske Sports complex.
• The Griffs victory last season was their first win against the Bulls since the 2010 campaign.
 
CANISIUS – CLEVELAND STATE SERIES HISTORY
•  This will be the 11th all-time meeting between the two programs.
•  Cleveland State leads the all-time series, 6-4-0.
•  The two schools have played in each of the last six seasons, with the Vikings winning four of the last five contests.
•  Last season, Cleveland State posted a 2-0 win over the Griffs.
•  Canisius’ last win in the series came during the 2012 campaign, when the Blue and Gold secured a 3-0 victory.
 
 ABOUT THE BULLS
• Buffalo is 3-1-0 this season as it begins the home portion of its schedule against the Griffs. 
• The Bulls haven’t allowed a goal in 328:40 minutes of action, their longest shutout streak since 2014 when they set a program record, not allowing a goal for 482 minutes of game time.
 
ABOUT THE VIKINGS
• The trio of Essence Canady, Sarah Krause and Jenna Prathapa lead Cleveland State with two goals each.
• Sophomore Stevie Holbrook has started six games for the Vikings in goal, earning a 3-3 split to go along with a .781 save percentage.

• Canisius will open up MAAC play on the road at Saint Peter’s on Sept. 15. Kickoff is set for noon.
• The Griffs return home Sept. 22, when the team plays host to Manhattan. That game, which will be broadcast live on ESPN+, will start at 1 p.m.
